Reducing Cancer Risk

Research suggests that approximately 1/3 of the 500,000 cancer deaths in the United States each year is due to dietary factors. For Americans who do not smoke cigarettes, the most important risk factor a person can control to reduce the chances of developing cancer is a combination of diet & physical activity.

The majority of people think of ‘going to the gym’ or ‘vigorous activities’ (like jogging) when they hear the word ‘exercise.’ Instead, this issue will be discussing movement, i.e. ‘moving your body through space.’

Weight

Um, hm, control? Not really – it has very little (if anything) to do with control. It is more a matter of finding a way of eating that results in a healthy sate for your body. So maybe ‘healthy weight’ is the better term.

April is Californians "Eat Right & Exercise" to Prevent Cancer month. I am always amazed at how many people still are unaware of the critical role that nutrition plays in keeping us healthy & lowering our risk for diseases, like cancer & heart disease.
